Abstract

Stunting is a major public health problem in Jember which is influenced by nutrition, sanitation, and access to services. Efforts to reduce stunting face resource and behavioral constraints, while Islamic organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah have extensive networks and strategic potential to support national programs through a faith-based approach. This study aims to understand the strategy of Islamic organizations in the Prevention of stunting in Jember. The research method used a mixed methods approach involving 200 board respondents and members; the questionnaire instrument proved to be valid and reliable. The results showed a positive understanding and perception of the organization on the issue of stunting is very high (88-98%). As many as 87% of organizations are actively implementing sustainable strategies such as recitation education, posyandu mentoring, and door-to-door counseling. The support of religious leaders, extensive networks, and the spirit of the members became the main supporting factors. The implementation of this strategy contributes to a decrease in the prevalence of stunting from 34.9% (2022) to about 29.7% (2023). It was concluded that religion-based strategies and collaboration of Islamic organizations are effective in supporting the acceleration of stunting reduction, in line with the national target of 2025. Recommendations include strengthening funding, training cadres, and optimization of monitoring systems for model replication in other areas.
