This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of students in Indonesia, as indicated by the results of the 2022 PISA survey, which ranked Indonesia 63rd out of 81 countries. The purpose of this study is to systematically examine the effect of using the ethnomathematics-based Discovery Learning model on improving the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students. The method used is library research with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design. The data analysis procedure follows the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses) protocol, which includes the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion of literature. Data sources come from scientific journal articles published within the last 10 years (2015-2025) accessed through databases such as Google Scholar and Garuda. The results of the literature review indicate that the Discovery Learning model is able to increase student activeness through a process of independent exploration and group discussions that naturally integrate elements of communication. The integration of ethnomathematics in this model provides a local cultural context that makes abstract mathematical concepts more tangible and meaningful to students, thereby increasing their confidence in expressing their opinions. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of ethnomathematics-based Discovery Learning has a positive and significant effect on improving students' mathematical communication skills compared to conventional methods. These results are expected to serve as a reference for educators in developing innovative and contextual mathematics learning tools.
